About

Ibra Studios is a culture-first film production and publishing house based between Sharjah and London. We develop original projects rooted in heritage, identity, and underrepresented narratives - with a particular focus on diasporic communities and cross-cultural dialogue. Our studio was founded with a clear purpose. To archive and amplify the creative and lived experiences of ethnic diasporas, using film and publishing as tools for preservation, authorship, and connection. Our creative approach blends research, oral history, and visual experimentation. We embrace genre-bending, art-house, and hybrid storytelling formats. Prioritizing authenticity while working across mediums and cultures. We treat cultural specificity not as a theme but as a method to harvest authenticity in our work.Strategically, Ibra Studios is positioned at the intersection of creativity and cultural enterprise. We aim to produce work that resonates emotionally, while also being built for longevity, across film festival circuits, publishing platforms, regional distribution and more.We are currently focused on:Developing and producing films and editorial work across South Asia, the Middle East, and diaspora communities.Co-producing and distributing stories that challenge mainstream portrayals and centre lived experience.Partnering with institutions and emerging artists to build new creative infrastructure across the UK, GCC and beyond. As we grow, we are actively building a slate of film and publishing projects, with sustainability and cross-border collaboration at the core of our model.Ibra Studios is where storytelling becomes archive - and archive becomes resistance.

IBRA STUDIOS ANNOUNCES DEBUT NARRATIVE SHORT FILM 'DUM'A silent coming-of-age drama exploring grief, memory, and masculinity through the ritual of food.London, UK / Sharjah, UAE — 1 July 2025 — Ibra Studios announces its debut narrative short film Dum, written and directed by M. Zainuddin and produced by Maria Ahmad. Logline: In silence, a young man attempts to follow a biryani recipe from his late grandmother’s diary, contending with his grief, and quietly, his father’s.“So often the typical narrative when it comes to Pakistani men is scripted in a way that documents the catastrophe that emerges as a result of the emotional suppression and generational trauma that weighs down on them, and bears the heaviest brunt on the women around them." says writer-director, M. Zainuddin. "Rarely do we get an insight into the internal mechanisms that build the fuel before the fire. Dum is a documentation of that silence that must come before the storm. A storm we know and fear all too well. A sad, silent, unexpressed longing for connection that precedes the tragedy and reinforces the patriarchal structure."Currently in pre-production, Dum is expected to begin filming in London in Summer 2025, with festival submissions planned from Autumn 2025 onwards. The project will be submitted to regional and international film festivals spotlighting South Asian cinema and experimental storytelling.Dum is a love letter to the unspoken and uncomfortable moments between generations. Experiences many of us have lived, and rarely see depicted on screen,” says producer Maria Ahmad. “It delicately translates the complexities of familial dissonance and the emotional veil that often exists between diasporas and their heritage. I believe this story will resonate deeply with audiences across both the West and the East.”Dum is the first in a slate of original works supported by Ibra Studios, a Sharjah and London-based film production house focused on identity-driven and genre-bending stories. The studio positions research and archival storytelling as creative tools, developing culturally resonant narratives with long-term impact. We are open to creative and production collaborations.
